Where to fish?

This species is widespread; these fish mostly breed in the land of barbel, in the lower regions of trout waters and some sections of faster flowing waters in the land of bream. Requires a hard bottom and the presence of hiding places. In smaller and narrower watercourses it lives in the middle stream, in wider - in the coastal zone. In early spring, we find it in calmer and deeper waters, after warming - in shallow and faster flowing, be also in the top, the subsurface layer of water, even below the surface. In pursuit of food, it often jumps out of the water.

Fishing methods.

In the spring and autumn, crossguards are caught on the cross-river; the equipment must be sensitive, line 0.15-0.20 mm, hooks 14—17, sensitive float with low load. Manure and larvae of water insects are used as bait. The same equipment is used in summer, you are fishing without a load, terrestrial insects are used as bait, e.g.. grasshoppers and red manure, larvae of water insects, pieces of cake, bread, rolls. In summer, we also use the "whisk" method, using insects or an artificial fly as bait.

Other comments.
The average length of the caught fish generally does not exceed 25 cm, to ground - 0,3 kg. Encouraging daces is ineffective and is out of the question, it is more advantageous to find a position, where they forage in a given period. The guard is very skittish, hence his catch "with a whisk” and the artificial fly is connected with fishing emotions. The sunny weather has a positive effect on the result of the catch, unfavorably - cloudy. The handguard is a good bait (and it is not difficult to catch), very mobile and therefore provoking predators to attack.
