The charm of water rapids

A toy for the water current

Long distance float fishing is difficult, because the line between the rod tip and the float immediately becomes a "toy" for the water current, who is doing with her, what he wants. The float should have a sufficiently large displacement, because when fishing with more load, we will have better control over the flowing set. It is very practical to lubricate the line, that it floats on the water while fishing. Fishing below the water thresholds using the float method, when you have a sinking line, it is just an unnecessary waste of time. The bait then does everything, just not that, what an angler would like. When fishing for barbel near the hooks on a heavy ground rig, we cannot afford even a moment of inattention. While waiting for a bite, we should keep our hand on the rod. The bites are usually very visible. When the tip is bent over by the fish, a smooth cut should be made.

A stalemate

Under no circumstances should we let go of the fish's line now, not an inch of fishing line. The fish should only have this much freedom, as far as the resilience of the tip allows it. A fierce barbell will try to escape into the snags at the bottom at first. Thus, there is often a stalemate – the fish won't move, we, on the other hand, cannot tow it by force because of the durability of the equipment. However, we must endure this hard test. With any luck, the barbell will eventually wear off, and that before the angler or his gear does so. After leading the fish out of the catches, it can almost always be brought to the landing net without any major problems. My rule of thumb is a bait basket and small baits in low and clean water; big lures at night; large, intensely fragrant lures in cloudy water. My favorite lure when the water is high and cloudy is the worm. Barbells are always good for worms, while in cloudy water they literally go crazy. Do not be afraid of the holes below the thresholds when you see the rushing current of water. There is a completely different world under the "raging" surface, the world of small and big fish. One throw of the rod may end up catching the barbel, second objection – hauling some decent chub, on the third charge, the bait may be of interest to a large bream. You never know what it will take and this is what is most beautiful when fishing in holes below the water thresholds. They are always very mysterious, and such fisheries are now rare.

In washing

Rzeczka, which I used to live on, it had several rapids, including one with a classic waterfall. I remember, that I threw the spinner into the greatest foam and felt, how a deep-sea current carries it under the waterfall. Suddenly a huge bite and a huge brown trout landed on my stick. Unfortunately, this fish stiffened during the haul. I will never forget this boyhood adventure for the rest of my life and since then, when fishing below the thresholds, I always check for potential fish hiding places under the waterfall itself. Mostly there is a hole there, washed by a reverse deep sea current. It is the favorite habitat of trout and barbel. When fishing with the ground method, bottom lead must be heavy enough, to keep the bait firmly in place. Throw the set into the "white" foam right next to the waterfall. The deep sea stream will carry the bait itself to the fish stand.
