She lives in a land named after her, as well as in a large part of the grayling land and in faster-flowing lowland watercourses. It lives in areas with hard bottoms, gravel and sand, rocky, also covered with larger boulders and troughs with pits. During the day it stays in the areas of fast current on the rocky bottom, in the pits under the weirs, on the current on the inside of the meander (slaughter) and at the mouths of larger tributaries. In the evening we will find it on shallower current sections, where he reveals his presence by frequently and loudly jumping over the water. This fish changes positions depending on the season and the water level. The colder it is - the deeper the barbel goes. It winters in deep pits.

The best months for barbel fishing are July, august and september, and during the warm autumn also October (or part of it). She does not eat in winter. He takes it early in the morning and in the evening, and even at night. In flooded and cloudy water all day long. Warm weather and cloudy skies contribute to good fishing, drizzle and weak west wind. The sun and cold wind adversely affect its feeding.

The rod is longer, heavier, medium hard, line 0.35-0.45 mm, hooks (For the starter) no 6 — 1/0 with short shaft. We tie the hooks directly on the fishing line. Load (olive) cruising, heavier, placed on a leader in a rocky bed. Restrictive pellet (brake) it should be 60-70 cm from the hook, so that the bait can move freely. The line should be thick for flow fishing 0,25 — 0,30 mm, the hook should be smaller (about 9).

Fishing methods.

For a starter without a float with through-load (olive), in the summer on a cross-pass with a float. A small float, balanced. If we're fishing for the cross-river, about an hour before fishing (in clean water) should be moderately enticed, however, it is better to use a spiral feeder as a load in the set of fishing rods. In wider watercourses with even bottom, we can fish with a piece of wood” with the use of nymphs. You can also try the fly fishing method, using nymphs.

At the beginning of the season and in cloudy water, loths are good, slurries, football jackets; in clear water in summer insect larvae (especially the flies, dragonflies and cookies), white worms”, small baits and dead fish, especially the fish tail (bullhead, piskorze, slips, sausage), to be. Artificial flies - nymphs. Large leeches can also be used. By baiting these fish can get used to the peas, cakes, cracklings and smoked bacon. Apart from earthworms, cheese is one of the most effective baits, especially soft, smelters. Size cheese cubes 1 — 1,5 cm we put on the hook with a needle. We tempt with breadcrumbs, to which we add finely planed yellow cheese. This mixture is kneaded with water to make a dough.

Other comments.

The barbell is a typical bottom fish, therefore, the bait intended for it should lie on the bottom or run along it. Requires a hard jam when taking. He is very militant. This fish is common, so you can catch several specimens during one trip, and even in one position. In summer, smaller specimens are usually caught, in September and thereafter, thick units are more frequent. The entrails of this fish should not be eaten. Expect other species of fish when fishing for barbel, i.e.. eel, klenia, sum, pigs, certy, carp. In Poland, the protective dimension of the barbel is 35 cm, the grace period lasts from 1 May to 20 June. The catch is limited to 5 pcs. during the day, including amur, cert, carp and tench.

It occurs in the basins of the Tisa and Poprad, in the upper parts of the Hron and in the Ipel River. It is very similar to a barbel. It grows up more or less to 25 cm.
